TO WIT – BLESS THE BROKEN ROAD
It appears that last night’s special election to replace Republican ex-Rep. Duke Cunningham (he’s in “Shawshank”) in CA-50 proved to be more uneventful and disinteresting than an early 1980s Wham concert.
The results:
Busby (D-CA) 56,147 43.9
Bilbray (R-CA) 19,366 15.2
A run-off will take place June 6.
I know this may not be politically correct (or expedient), but let me state once again: The Duke Lacrosse team is “not guilty.” (Now…back to Natalie Holloway.)
A reader points out that Kelly Coyne, a former writer for the California Patriot and Berkeley CR officer, once worked for Jack Abramoff. She’s now working for an investment-banking firm in London. (Scandalous!) [Phillips Foundation]
Last weekend on Saturday Night Live, “Dan Rather” recommended that Katie Couric include the Rascal Flatts in the “CBS Evening News Summer Concert Series.” It’s no surprise that the new Rascal Flatts album, “Me and My Gang,” is the fastest selling CD in America this week.
Get ready: The 2008 Republican National Convention (sponsored by Coors Light) will be September 1-5 in a yet-to-be-disclosed-location.
Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell will be the featured speaker at the 58th annual Shad Planking near Wakefield, VA on April 19.
The South Carolina College Republicans had a 2008 Straw Poll at its convention last weekend. The results:
George Allen: 36% (18)
John McCain: 18% (9)
Mitt Romney: 18% (9)
John Cox: 14% (7)
Mike Huckabee: 6% (3)
Bill Frist: 4% (2)
Newt Gingrich: (4%) (2)
Sam Brownback: 0% (0)
Chuck Hagel: 0% (0)
Tom Tancredo: 0%(0)
Please take it upon yourself to decipher what that means.
