GUN IN MY MOUTH

PENNSYLVANIA GOP HAS CHANCE TO CHANGE COURSE

What do you do after spending 8 months in a federal prison in the 1980s?

1.You get an HIV test. Immediately.
2.You run for the GOP State Party Chairmanship in Pennsylvania.

Bob Asher, who is currently the Pennsylvania GOP National Committeeman, was convicted in 1986 of mail fraud, perjury and conspiracy to commit bribery. [BOBASHER.NET]

So was his buddy, Pennsylvania State Treasurer Bud Dwyer.

Dwyer, however, didn’t use the occasion of his conviction to become a political power broker. He did this: [TRUTH CAUCUS – WARNING**GRAPHIC**]

Asher didn’t take the same “life journey.”

So today, the Pennsylvania Republican Party, which is shaped in Asher’s felonious image, is hoping to rebound. The State GOP financially backed incumbent candidates with hope they could stave off a conservative rebellion.

The Republican primary was last Tuesday, and suffice it to say, the plan didn’t work. (Let’s just say it was a form of political “suicide,” for lack of a better term.)

The New York Times wrote, “A revolt among Pennsylvania conservatives gained national attention on Wednesday after challengers toppled at least 12 state lawmakers they deemed insufficiently committed to small government and fiscal restraint.”

After the “conservative revolt,” as predicted, State Party GOP Chairman Eileen Melvin announced she would not seek reelection.

So now is the chance for real conservative leadership. Oh, but wait, Bob Asher, sources say, is “floating his name” as a possible consensus candidate to replace Eileen Melvin. (Consensus for what? A RICO case?)

Conservatives are hoping for real leadership in the form of Pat Toomey or Bill Scranton.

Who will win? What will happen? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure: taking our party back starts on the ground floor.
