TO WIT – A SHOCK AND AWE SEX SCANDAL

Maybe you’re sleeping off a weekend gin bender, maybe you’re considering the concept of a “Law & Order” president, maybe you’re wondering why you took a 17 year-old girl to prom…

There is a sex scandal in Washington. And, as they say, it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

At the moment, we don’t know which “household political name” will be fingered by the DC Madam, but ABC News tells us Brian Ross will announce it this week.

Several lesser names (C-listers) have been named thus far. (The guy who created the “Shock and Awe” military theory, for example.)

A sex scandal in Washington? It doesn’t get any better than that.

But, there are others things to cause worry. Namely, George Tenet’s riveting appearance on 60 Minutes last night where he said that Al Qaeda prepared an attack on the New York City subway system in 2003, but called it off. Why? Because they wanted to focus on something much larger. Possibly, Tenet said, a nuclear attack on American soil.

A frightening scenario that can usurp even a shock and awe Beltway sex scandal.

PBS is running a two-part series (beginning tonight) on the history of the Latter-Day Saints. It’s aptly titled: The Mormons. [NY Times]

Need to know: Fred Thompson will deliver a speech in Orange County this week. (It’s the same event where Ronald Reagan announced his presidential campaign.)

Two interesting things happened in CRNC politics over the weekend. Illinois CRs gathered to elect one man, but ended up electing another. And, in Maine, Nate Walton was elected to an unprecedented third term.
