BURRIS WINS IN ARKANSAS
Former Arkansas CR State Chairman John Burris won easy election to the Arkansas state house on Tuesday.
Burris, 23, was an avid supporter of the CRNC reform movement.
John Burris – Republican – 56.11% – 6,868
Bill Witty – Democrat – 43.89% – 5,372
MCHENRY VOTES NO ON BAILOUT
Former CRNC Treasurer Patrick McHenry voted “no” on the congressional proposal to bailout Wall Street.
“Now that this bill has failed,” McHenry, a North Carolina republican, told the Cleveland County Star. “I encourage the leaders of the Democrat-run Congress to offer legislation that will bring stability to our financial markets while providing protection for taxpayers.”
WEDDING BELLS FOR MIKE BACKUS
From a special operative:
Former NY College Republican Chairman Michael Backus is getting married this weekend to his Mexico Academy sweetheart Andrea Forbes. Michael and Andrea both attended Le Moyne College.
Michael works for Congressman John McHugh and Andrea teaches at Mexico Elementary school in the couples hometown of Mexico, NY.
TOMMY JARDON ELECTED CRNC REGIONAL VICE CHAIR
Tommy Jardon, the former Florida CR state chair who led the CRNC opposition in the days after the 2005 election, has been elected the CRNC southern regional vice chairman. A national officer level position. (Most of you may remember this by its former name: caucus chairman.)
Jardon, a law student at University of Florida (Go Gators!), replaces Kristy Cottrell of Alabama. He ran unopposed.
UPDATE: HOOTON LOSES STATE REP BID
Brett Hooton, a former Arkansas CR operative, lost his bid for state rep in a GOP primary last week.
Hooton—who apparently goes by J. Brett Hooton now—lost 1,208 to 697.
TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW…
Legendary CRNC executive director Lee Atwater was killed by the same kind of brain tumor afflicting Ted Kennedy.
TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW…
A Pennsylvania blog says Nick Miccarelli’s race for the state house is one to watch…
It says, “In an ironic twist of typical suburban Philly races, this contest features “Old-School” Union Dem Johnny-D vs. “New School” Iraq Veteran, Nick Miccarelli. Though this seat, formerly held by Ron Raymond, may look cozy for his COS, Miccaerlli, DeFransesco could pull off a major upset if he is able to channel the Congressman Sestak-built machine in Delco. Still, Miccarelli appears to be the “Dream Candidate” for the rapidly declining Delco GOP.”
NATE WALTON RETIRES
Can you imagine the Maine CRs without Nate Walton. The legendary three-term state CR chairman retired this weekend, officially becoming a CR alum. The organization’s website said goodbye on its website (picture below).
Certainly we’ll hear more from Walton in the coming years, and will follow his career closely here at TRUTH CAUCUS.

GOURLEY ELECTED TO SD GOP STATE COMMITTEE
Paul Gourley, the former National CR chairman, has been elected a GOP state committeeman in his home state of South Dakota.
Gourley, 26, now represents Minnehaha County GOP on the state committee. (Minnehaha is the Sioux Indian word for waterfalls.)
GQ KARL

Karl Rove, the former CRNC national chair turned campaign architect, doesn’t drink alcohol or caffeine. If you want to know more about him, read this Q&A in GQ.
Hint: He likes the Clintons. You can tell.
MCCAIN INC. NO, CRNC INC.

Buzz Jacobs, a former CRNC candidate for national chairman (and Alabama CR state chair), is one of the 10 super secret John McCain regional campaign managers.
McCain’s South Carolina campaign was run by Jacobs.
Jacobs ran—unsuccessfully—for CRNC national chairman in 1999 against John Yob and Scott Stewart. Yob dropped out, joined forces with Stewart, and defeated Jacobs. The irony: Yob is one of McCain’s top political operatives.
(That election is apparently soooo water-under-the-bridge.)
LAW & ORDER

The always-interesting Beau Correll is Virginia’s newest prosecutor.
Correll, the 2005 YourCRNC ally (and rabble-rouser), began a job today as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney. (That’s ADA for all you non-Virginia and Kentucky folks, a reader writes.)
The Virginia native will (hopefully) be locking up southern Virginia’s murders, drug dealers and rapists in Martinsville, VA.
So, if you’ve ever been on the opposite side of Correll and you find yourself traveling south of Roanoke…watch your speed (and lay off the sauce).
JOHN YOB IS…
John Yob, the indefatigable former CRNC executive director, is John McCain’s deputy political director—something worth pointing out as the Arizona senator climbs to the top of New Hampshire polls.
A READER WRITES...
“Beau Correll just passed the Virginia bar exam and will be sworn in later this month at the VA Supreme Court. He is currently the National Coalitions Director for Tancredo’s presidential campaign.”
Congratulations!
NEW HAMPSHIRE GOES IVY LEAGUE...
Dartmouth’s Greg Boguslavsky (Go Indians!) was elected New Hampshire CR state chairman tonight. The state also endorsed Charlie Smith for CRNC national chair.
Cue the all important question: Who does Boguslavsky support for president? A source says he’s “undecided.” But also casually mentions that Boguslavsky is from New Jersey.
