CONSERVATIVES FOR CASEY?

Penn State student Vicky Cangelosi created a Facebook group called “Conservatives for Casey ’06.” The group description states, “Rick Santorum came out against an event sponsored by the Penn State College Republicans. He and the State Party tried to force the club not to put on an immigration awareness event that was scheduled for next week. He did this to pander to some Latino organizations. I hope that he gets enough votes out of those minority organizations to make up for the thousands of votes he just lost by revealing that he has no spine.” [Facebook]

Now, let’s forget about revealing Rick Santorum’s spine for a second…and talk about real-life revelations.

One must ask Cangelosi: Is it conservative to dress like you do in the photo to the right? (Don’t blame this on Halloween…or high school musicals.)

As many of you know, I’m all about not having fun. Hence my advice: Don’t take pictures like this (much less pose for them).

CASEY FOR SENATE LOVES GRASS

FACEBOOK VICTIM #317,906

We all know that the Bob Casey Jr. master strategy of defeating Rick Santorum is to do and say absolutely nothing. (This is called “coasting along.”)

The Casey for Pennsylvania staff, however, might be taking this strategy too far. Case in point: Myles Aion, the Casey for PA intern director, celebrated his birthday with a bong. And TRUTH CAUCUS has photos!

Pictured below, in a scene straight out of a Quentin Tarantino movie, is Aion wasting away with a 22oz. beer (can you say “ghetto”?) and a marijuana bong sitting on the table.

There’s a movement in Pennsylvania to oust (smear?) State GOP Chairman Robert Gleason. (He openly supported Jack Murtha.)

PA GOP CHAIR: ‘MURTHA HAS DONE A WONDERFUL JOB’

Months ago, I warned you about this guy Robert Gleason who was running for Pennsylvania State GOP Chairman. Nobody listened. [TC FLASHBACK – GUN IN MY MOUTH]

Now, after he was elected, Gleason goes and praises Democrat Jack Murtha at the expense of his REPUBLICAN opponent.

Gleason was quoted in a Pennsylvania newspaper saying: “I cannot deny that Murtha has done a wonderful job for our region” He continued, “He’s brought home the bacon. If that’s how you want to judge a congressman or any elected official, he gets five stars. I think everything was pretty positive until the past few months, when he started attacking the president and the war and saying things that weren’t really positive as far as the troops were concerned.”

Rick Santorum’s first TV ad is running in Pennsylvania. It’s titled “Candles” and is about immigration. (It’s a mediocre ad.)

[Rick Santorum]

Santorum is running agaist Bob Casey Jr.—a Democrat from a well-known Pennsylvania political family. Despite having a horse face and odd sounding voice, he leads in the polls. Fox News profiles the race below:

OH, THE IRONY

When Raj Bhakta, a moderate Republican running for Congress in Pennsylvania, said (just for the media attention) that Indians do more than “make a mean cup of coffee,” I snidely remarked that Indians (the non-native kind) run some of the finest Ramada Inns and Best Westerns.

Here’s the irony. A reader writes:

Raj is the current owner of (and his office is located in) a best western in Fort Washington, PA.

DAVE COPLEY, SEX SYMBOL PART II

I don’t know which is more odd: the fact that former Pennsylvania CR State Chair Dave Copley is in a “White House Hotties” poll, or the fact that he’s winning.

Anyway, voting closes this morning, so vote for him.

DAVE COPLEY, SEX SYMBOL?

David Copley, fomer Pennsylvania CR state chair and opposition star, is in an online poll titled “White House Hotties: The Men.” (And, that’s all I have to say about that.)

Robert Gleason and Joyce Haas were elected Pennsylvania GOP chair and vice-chair today at the Wyndham Hotel in Harrisburg.

The central caucus put a statement in their caucus report on the floor expressing their dismay with state money being spent on primary races—but they elected mediocre leadership that doesn’t care for reform.

‘GUTLESS WONDERS MAKE POOR CONSERVATIVES’

The Pittsburgh Tribune Review writes:

The Republican State Committee of Pennsylvania meets this weekend to elect a new chairman. And unless the truly reform-minded grass-roots members of this panel rise up and shout “NO!” a non-reformer will ascend to the “throne” and politics as usual—no hard stands against what’s clearly wrong and decidedly unconservative—will prevail. Gutless wonders make poor conservatives.

I know it’s impossible for various party operatives—almost anywhere—to ignore greed and self-indulgence.

MARK HARRIS BRINGS IT ON

Perhaps it’s the 15 dollar martini’s I’ve been drinking this weekend (hence my very busy social life), but Mark Harris is already exceeding my expectations. Just a few weeks after his staggering primary win, Harris is “telling it the way it is.” (I love it.)

From today’s Philadelphia Inquirer:

When Mark Harris was born, John Perzel was wrapping up his third term in the state House.

But Harris – a self-styled Reaganite who upset a longtime Republican House incumbent this month – showed no deference when asked about the future of the powerful speaker of the House.

“John Perzel has to go,” Harris, 21, barely of legal age to serve in Harrisburg, told KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh the day after his primary win. “He is out of touch with the rest of the Republican Party. I think he is out of touch with the rest of the state of Pennsylvania.”
