Former CRNC Chairman Scott G. Stewart has officially left politics and has taken a job with Shell Oil in the Western United States.
Stewart was previusly working for the Department of Interior in Washington. He was CRNC National Chairman from 1999-2003, where he became close friends with another former CRNC chairman—Jack Abramoff.
Stewart’s chairmanship was highly controversial. The organization began a full time field program, raised more money, and became more legitimate. But, in 2001, three women “accused him of harassing female colleagues and using party funds to pay for cell phone bills and other personal expenses.” The RNC “hired an outside law firm to investigate. The firm found that Stewart’s actions did not meet the legal definition of sexual harassment, but the firm’s report states his conduct was ‘unprofessional and inappropriate for a work setting.’” [Source – Las Vegas Review Journal]

Get the “site selection committee” on the phone.
For the 50 of you who are actually planning on attending the 2006 CRNC National Board Meeting (this is where people will be “jockeying” for 2007), Colorado isn’t the only state that hopes to host the meeting. Alabama also hopes to host.
Historical note: A CRNC board meeting was held in Breckenridge, CO in 1998. (I’m an Aspen man myself.)

TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW…
Colorado CR State Chairman Charlie Smith sent an email looking to set up a conference call with his friends and supporters. He wrote, in part:
I suspect it will last about an hour. Everyone please be ready with a list of State Chairmen or others across the CRNC that you have close contacts with. We will be going through this list of friends that we have and deciding which of those we will be talking to early and in what capacity.
Speculation, my second best-friend, enters stage left.
