Norquist to testify

Truth Caucus has learned that the Senate Indian Affairs Committee will hold hearings on the Jack Abramoff “situation” this October.

Abramoff directed tribes to make millions of dollars of political contributions, including thousands to the campaign committees of several members of Congress.

The central question in Washington this summer is: Will Grover Norquist, the president of the Americans for Tax Reform, be called to testify?

Truth Caucus has learned that Norquist, the former executive director of the College Republican National Committee, will indeed be called to testify.

Norquist has been attacking McCain throughout the summer. At the College Republican National Convention, Norquist referred to McCain as “the nut-job from Arizona.”

A statement from McCain’s office later said, “John McCain hasn’t spent five seconds in his entire life thinking about Grover Norquist. He’s not going to start now.”

But, that’s all about to change as Norquist will be sitting in front of McCain’s committee bringing about more excitement than a Neil Diamond concert.

Sources say Norquist’s attack on McCain is part of a larger strategy. By creating an old-fashioned beltway “dust-up,” it will look like McCain is calling Norquist to testify for political reasons.
